Back to Routine: Small Rituals to Take Care of Yourself After Summer

Back to Routine: Small Rituals to Take Care of Yourself After Summer

Summer is slowly coming to an end. We’re heading back to work, getting back to our usual schedules and leaving behind those days when time seemed to move at a different pace.

After the holidays, getting back into a routine can take a little time. But there’s no need to change all our habits at once. Sometimes, small moments of pause can help us ease back into everyday life in a more enjoyable way.

And a cup of tea or an infusion can become one of those little rituals.

Getting back into a routine, without rushing

After a few weeks of different schedules, it’s normal for our habits to have changed too. Getting up later, eating at different times or spending more time outdoors are all part of summer.

With September just around the corner, getting back to a little regularity can help us feel comfortable with our day-to-day again.

The key is to take it slowly and find moments that allow us to enjoy the transition.

1. Start your day calmly

Mornings when we return to work are often full of rushing around. Getting ready, checking our phones, planning the day...
Taking a few minutes to enjoy a cup of tea can be a simple way to start the day more calmly.
If you’re looking for a moment of energy and focus, green tea can be a great companion during those first hours of the day.

2. Bring back the after-meal ritual

During the holidays, meals often last longer. So why give up this moment completely when we return to our routine?
An infusion after a meal can be the perfect excuse to enjoy a few minutes of pause before getting on with the rest of the day.
Infusions such as mint, fennel or specific digestive blends are popular choices to accompany this moment.

3. Take a break during the day

Getting back into your usual rhythm doesn’t mean being busy all the time.
Preparing an infusion can be a simple way to take a short break, step away from screens for a few minutes and return to your tasks feeling a little more refreshed.
This small ritual can be especially enjoyable in the afternoon, when we start to notice the tiredness of the day.

4. Create a moment to switch off
Turning off your computer, putting your phone aside, preparing an infusion and sitting down quietly can help create a clear end to the working day. For this moment, caffeine-free infusions such as rooibos or herbal blends are a great option when you want to enjoy a comforting and aromatic drink.

September can also be a fresh start

Getting back into a routine doesn’t mean leaving behind everything we love about summer.
We can keep some of its little pleasures with us: enjoying our time, taking breaks, looking after our daily moments and finding space for ourselves.
A cup of tea in the morning, a quiet moment after a meal or a few minutes to switch off at the end of the day can become small rituals that stay with us throughout the year. Because getting back into a routine can also be an opportunity to start taking care of ourselves again.
